We know that being a single mom is hard. There’s always just so much to do! Between cooking meals, watching over the kids, helping with homework, and working, there really isn’t much time for yourself, is there? But don’t forget, moms need me-time, too! We know it can be hard but we’re here to show you it’s not impossible!

Learn how to find me-time as a single-mom with Sheroes.

1. Make yourself a priority

First, you have to realize how important this is. Don’t feel guilty about setting time for yourself. We know how some moms can feel like they don’t deserve a break or that there’s just too much on their plates at the moment. The truth is, giving yourself some me-time can help make you a better mom as it helps you recharge and re-center yourself.

2. Set your alarm 30 minutes earlier

Bear with us with this one for a bit. We know it can be tough to wake up early but once you’ve gotten it in your system, you won’t notice the 30-minute difference. Set your alarm 30 minutes earlier than you normally would. You can use these 30 minutes to relax, watch your favorite show in peace, squeeze in a quick workout, or write in your journal.

3. Do something for yourself after the kids sleep

If you’re really not a morning person, you can squeeze in me-time when your child or children head off to bed. Resist the urge to fix up the house or do extra work and just do something that’s just for you, even if it’s just one day a week.

4. Track your day

Take note of how each day goes for you and your child. This is easier to do given the current situation. Track where most of your day goes, how much time you spend on each task, and how often you do these tasks in a week. This helps give you an idea of where else you can schedule your me-time or which tasks you can shuffle around to create time for yourself.

5. Involve your kids

Just because it’s “me-time” doesn’t mean you can’t get your kids involved as well. You can do activities you love with your kids. For example, if you love to cook and you find it relaxing, you can try experimenting with different recipes with your child. If you have older children, you can go on spa days or get regular mani-pedi sessions with them. You can try taking your pet on nightly walks with your child and just enjoy each other’s company, work on new puzzles, have a weekly movie night, order takeout from a new restaurant every month. There are different ways you can involve your kids in your me-time!

Finding me time as a mom can be tough but frankly, you deserve it! There is nothing more important than giving yourself the same love and attention you give your children, so we hope these tips help you get the me-time you need.
