Our lungs are ground zero for COVID-19. For many patients, it begins there but it not necessarily ends there.


The virus, deadly as we know it, can affect the heart in many ways. We should first establish that the heart and lungs work together to give our bodies the right level of oxygen. That’s why when the lungs are affected by a respiratory illness, like COVID-19, it can cause a lot more stress on the heart. That’s one of the reasons why people with heart disease are more to get severely ill from COVID-19.


But then again, COVID-19 can do damage to your heart, even if you just get a mild case of the virus and show no symptoms.
